10/30/10 On the way to the camp Doug H. called to ask if he could clean a doe at my camp. I told him yes. I picked up a sack of ricebran and met him and his future SIL, Scott at the camp. They were almost finished cleaning when I got there and We all took a rid to the back to se if I had any hogs in the trap. We jumped a deer on the e-plot while going to pull TC pics. But had no hogs. I told them to leave the carcass with me and I will dispose of it later but I didn’t want to go to the creek before the hunt.
I hunted the Killing Tree again because of the bucks showing up there at night. I was turning around slow in the stand to get comfortable when I looked up and “OC” the little crab clawed spike was standing right in front of me. He just slipped up without making a sound. He was followed by the two fawns and their mother. Later the scary doe showed up at the feeder. Today was the first time that she made it to the bait in front of the stand. She would be a great doe to shoot but not on the E-Plot because I don’t want to mess it up for the big boys.

10/31/10 The morning hunt at the Killing Tree was uneventful. Didn’t see anything. In the afternoon one of the twins came out the BTP Rd. and fed for awhile in front of me. It then went out by way of Kolton’s Korner. Later, the other twin with the doe came out the BTP Rd. and was soon joined by the first fawn coming from KK. They fed calmly for ahile infront of the stand. I saw another doe coming out New Roads and the twins and momma left. The doe coming out was followed by three more does. One was a yearling doe and the others were all big with the biggest being in the 140 lb range. This is a very smart group and were always on the defense. Either they faced me or all of them were facing different directions. They were very reactive to any noise in the cutover. This is the same group of does that is present when the big bucks are around. This is also the first time I have seen them from the stand this year. I was in high hopes of the big ones showing up. When I was packing up to leave I could see another deer to the south of me. It was a doe or spike but don’t know which.

11/1/10 I skipped the morning hunt because I just didn’t feel like getting up. Went out to hunt at 2:00 pm to try to beat the rain. N the stand 5 minutes when it started raining. Went back to camp.

11/2/10 Got up and looked at radar. Rain, rain, and more rain. Went back to sleep. Went out at 1 pm to pull TC pics and bait up. Put the crock pot on and went out again about 4pm in stand for 10 minutes when it started pouring down raining again. Went back to camp and ate and dried off. At 5:30 pm it had stopped again so I grabbed my bow and left everything else at the camp. Jumped 4 does on the E-Plot OWI. I hurried to stand and by the time I pulled my bow up one of the does had returned. It wasn’t long and she was looking hard at the cut over. Poboy and Super Spike came out. They all fed in front of me and were soon joined by another doe coming from the south. Still no big deer showing in daylight.

11/3/10 Made morning hunt on the Shaking Tree. Very early Super Spike came in and fed in front of me. He left before I could see my sight pin but I don’t know if I would have shot him or not. Later 3 fawns, 1 doe, and a 4” spike fed at the SE corner of the T-Plot. Something scared them and they never presented a shot. In the afternoon I hunted the Killing Tree where I saw “OC”, a doe, and 3 fawns.

11/4/10 John and Jonathan came up to hunt for a couple of days. They fixed my satellite dish which I appreciate very much. In the morning I hunted the Shaking Tree again but saw nothing. It was like a hurricane in the tree. I didn’t expect to see a lot. In the evening I hunted the Killing Tree again. I’m still after those two nice bucks and waiting for them to come out early. I saw 2 fawns, 1 doe, and 3 yearling bucks. 2 short spikes “ss2” and “?” and 1 long spike “OC”. John hunted the Lone Oak Stand and saw 13 deer. Approximately 6 fawns, and 7 does. Jonathan hunted the Shaking Tree and saw 1 doe.

11/5/10 The morning hunt was beautiful weather. The kind of morning you would expect to see deer. However, that is not the way it went. I was the only one to see deer and it was the same two short spikes as the evening before. The evening hunt was quite different. I saw a deer on the edge of the plot OWI. It wasn’t a fawn but not real large. From the Killing tree I saw 1 fawn, 1 doe, and “ss2”. John F. saw 15 deer they are estimated at 6 fawns and 9 does. Nothing had antlers. Jonathan jumped a big deer at the feeder on the T-Plot OWI. Then he saw 3 does from the stand.

11/6/10 I slept in because I didn’t want to go out in the cold this morning. It was 33 deg on the thermometer. Also didn’t feel like shooting a doe this morning. In the afternoon Rambow said to go out early. I was on the stand for 2:25 pm. I jumped one fawn on the way in and by the time I got seated in the stand a new 3 pt “Good Year” and a short spike “ss2”, and a large doe came out. Then another large doe came out with twin fawns. Deer were in and out of the cutover all afternoon and it was hard to tell if they were new deer being seen. During the entire hunt I don’t believe there was an hour without deer in front of me.

11/12/10 I made a quick trip to the land for an evening hunt. There were a lot of TC pics from all three cameras. The new TC site was at 4-Trees and had over 200 pics but most were of spikes and does. “Wrap” the 8-point was at the T-Plot along with a new 6 point danmed “Dagger” . The big 9 point “Stubs” did not show in a week. Only one pic of “Holy Mackeral” at the E-Plot.
I hunted the Shaking tree and had one fawn with no spots come in. There were no deer on the W-Plot as I was leaving. I found this unusual but there was some activity at the Pittmans.

11/16/10 On my way to the camp I stopped at Rambows to eat lunch and visit for a little while. While there William Daniels called me to talk about leasing the mineral rights on the land.
I met William Daniels at the camp and he explained what the offer was. It sounds good but I am worried about losing my hunting land to make a little money. Decision will have to be made after February 16th when I own all the mineral rights to the land.
I pulled TC pics and discovered that on the 12th when I was hunting the Shaking Tree “Trick-R-Treat” a nice 8 point was at the Killing Tree. I baited the TC sites and moved the T-Plot Camera to the WOWOWO stand and baited there.
I hunted the Killing Tree in hopes that TRT would be back there again. My two good bucks (Holy Mackeral & Stubs) are not showing up any more. The bucks are changing paterns and new bucks are showing up regularly now.

11/17/10 I miscalculated the time to be on the stand in the morning and was a few minutes late. I went to the Shaking Tree in hopes of shooting a doe. When I got there there was a doe and fawn at the feeder. I let them see me and when the left I went to the stand. Nothing showed so at 8:30 am I went back to my 4 wheeler to get some more corn and ricebran and then went to the WOWOWO. On the way I jumped a good size deer on the Ridgerunner Trail.
I hunted the WOWOWO until 10:30am then I pulled TC pics and went back to the camp. At 4:50pm “Wrap” the 8 point that Cro shot at was there with a long spike called “Left Curve”. Wrong stand again. But I know where I want to hunt this afternoon.
I decided to make an early hunt at the WOWOWO so I baited up the cameras and saw a doe and fawn near the box stand on the W-Plot. There was a large deer bedded up in the small trees near them. I walked in the open to get them to leave and the doe and the fawn left as I finished baiting the 4 Trees TC site. The bedded deer just stayed. It looked like a good size doe so I decided to make a stalk. I got within 40 yards and noticed the deer was standing. I was thinking about making the shot when I noticed that it was a long spike. I just stepped in the open to let it see me and move on.
There was no movement at the WOWOWO although there was plenty of sounds that could have been deer movement.
When I went back I jumped two deer on the W-Plot. One at the camera, which I could not see, and a fawn at the Lone Oak, which ran south.

11/23/10 I drove directly from work to the camp and got some sleep before T-Mike arrived. Mike has been coming with his son for the last few years. It is always an enjoyable visit. This time Mikey couldn’t come and he was missed. We only had a day and a half to hunt because of Thanksgiving so we made the best of it. I still had a feeling that the WWW would produce a good buck. That is where I decided to go. T-Mike hunted the Killing Tree which is the most productive stand on the land. After the evening hunt Mike fried up some Jumbo Shrimp and we had some great poboys for supper.

11/26/10 My friend Warren wanted some relax time to get away from work. No better way than to spend it in a deer stand. Warren doesn’t bow hunt so I made the exception for him to start rifle hunting early. With it raining hard all night and morning the land was soaking wet so I decided to gun hunt myself. We were both on 3.5 year old bucks and older and no does with a gun.

11/27/10 We could only make the morning hunt because I had a wedding to attend in Metairie, LA that evening. I decided to give the WWW another try but still no deer sightings. It was 29 degrees this morning.
