I will attempt to report what happened in each use of scents as close as I can describe the event. Many factors must be considered besides the use of the scent such as hunting pressure, where hunted, feeding times, etc. I will state that some positive effects may have nothing to with the use of the scent but on the other hand may have everything to do with it.
I have some catching up to do with the first part of the season but will maintain current status from now on.

November 18, 2006 evening hunt The scent trail started up the road and went around the weed plot. Hyper Heat was on boots of my brother to lay trail. Temp. was cool and winds were calm. A big deer came out on the right of picture at dark and followed scent trail. A buck came out on the wheat and oat plot and followed the scent trail then walked back along the trail again. It could not be positively ID'd as a shooter so no shots were fired. Deer came out late.

November 19, 2006Here is what my brother told me: Someone had picked the area that he wanted to hunt for the evening so he scouted this area new to him. It is the first year he is in the club. While scouting he found a deer trail and old rub inside the woods. He also did not like the set up with the box stand so he decided to use his climber. He laid a scent trail using "Hyper Heat" from the woods behind the plot and behind his climber along the left side of the plot to the deer trail back across the weeds and back to his truck which was parked in sight of his stand. Came back and climbed the tree and hunted. This buck was the only deer he saw but it came out right at dark from the deer trail and stood where my brother had turned back on his scent trail. He identified it as a shooter (8 pt and 14" IS) and fired. He looked and the deer was still standing there. He fired again and the deer went down but was trying to get up again. He fired a third shot and missed. He must have been shook up because missing is not in my brother's vocabulary. He missed this one twice.

November 21st (B) I got a late start from the house so I didn't hunt the T-Plot like I intended. Ihad to get ready the second I got to the camp. I hunted the East Plot Bow Stand. I laid a Hyper Heat scent trail along the road to the East Plot around the east side into Buck Point Trail to a scrape where I put a few drops on the scrape and refreshed my boots then back across the plot and hung a Hyper Wick with Heat on it. I was hunting by 3:30pm. About 5:15pm Spike # 2 came out from BTP road and stopped near the scent trail. He went back towards thw Wagon Trail and I grunted very softly several times. He came back into the plot a little further and fed a couple of seconds the went back towards the BTP and hung around the area and showed himself one more time. He got within bow range but he's not a shooter.

November 24, 2006 I got another late start because my wife came to the camp with me. I was set up in the stand by 3:30 and laid out a trail of Hyper P. The first deer I saw were a doe and small but not spotted fawn that came out from a trail on the west side of the plot. The wind was from the WNW so I doubt if the scent had anything to do with them. I wanted to get the deer on film so I turned my camera on and the doe heard it. Whe looked straight up in the tree at me. She wasn't scared but just smart. She left by the same trail and the fawn which presented a 25 yard shot followed her soon after. About 5:25 pm a spike which I believe to be #2 came out from the BTP road. It followed the Hyper P trail exactly and presented a shot opportunity at 15 yards. It left the plot by the same trail the doe an the fawn left and I started to pick up quitely. When I was ready to climb down there was another deer (I believe to be a yearling) on the north section of the plot. I watched this deer feed for a while until I lost sight of it then climbed down. From what I am hearing from hunters in the area there are very few deer sightings. My land in particular has had very few lately. The deer were calm when they appeared and I expect that if I wouldn't have scared the doe I would have had a shot opportunity if I wanted it. The fawn was pretty small though I may not have taken the doe had I had a chance.

November 25th morning hunt no scent used and no deer seen by myself, Kevin, and Greg. November 25th evening hunt no scent used by Kevin or Greg and no deer seen. I used Hyper P on the East plot and sow no deer. November 25th My brother,Paul used Hyper Heat at his club and had a very positive reaction by a spike. When it got to the scent line it ran straight up the scent line to find the doe. There was a definite indication that this deer reacted to the scent. I will post details later as there were a few hunts using Hyper Heat that no seer were seen also. There have not been any other deer killed on the club since my brother's 11 point.
