Here are some of the past pictures of Broken Beam. It's not to often that a deer is killed with a photo history like this one. I've counted 563 Trailcam pictures of this guy. Here are a few: March 1, 2005 The first time on Trailcam May 3, 2005 He is just starting to grow this year's antlers. June 15, 2005 He is growing fast and you can see he is not going to be symetrical. You can also see a sticker on his right beam that will eventually break off so that it is not scoreable.

July 27, 2005, he is almost filled out on his antlers. You can see heavy bases but he does not hold the mass out to the rest of his antlers, particularly on his left side. August 14, 2005 here is the one of the two pictures taken at the same event he has shown up during the day. August 17, 2005, my favorite picture of him. "Hey! what are you doing back there?" September 28, 2005, He shows both of the stickers behind his brows. He is fully filled out on the antlers.

November 4...Still running with the pack although the pack changes daily. December 3...His nightly visits are starting to slow down. I believe he is getting more wary of the flashing light. December 21...His last visit to a trailcam on the West Food Plot.

I looked it up in my log book. On December 4, 2003, on the Loan Oak Stand at 5:20pm I let him walk right under the tree. He was a 4 point with both sides broken. His left side only had a piece sticking up of the beam and the right had 3 visible points with the end broken off. He was taken at 8:58am January 21, 2006 by Doug Harrell. Here are a few pictures showing the end of the hunt. He Green scored 95 5/8" with a 14 3/4" inside spread, and weigher 190 lbs. He broke the hooks holding the pullies for the skinning rack. We had to improvise to make it work. It's not every day that someone kills a deer with so much recorded history. Seeing the smile on Doug's face is what it's all about. He has killed much bigger deer before but this was his first of this year and he was pumped. Doug is going to European Mount the deer and I will use the cape to remount my first deer I ever killed. I'm going to miss his nightly visits but all I'll have to do is look up on the wall to see an old friend.
