Marche 9, 2011 Vicki and I went to the land to work on the new E-Plot Box Stand and other small projects. When we were pulling TC disks we discovered that Scott had already made the road and plot at the bottom near the Crow's Foot. The following pictures are from my camera phone and are not very clear but show a little about the area. The road at the end of the Ridge Ruynner Trail leading to the plot. The tree the stand will be put on. Looking west from the bottom of the tree Looking straight across the plot toward the creek from the tree Looking east from the tree I tore down part of the old E-Plot Box Stand and my 4 lb. hammer broke just before I wore out so I had to quit. I got the back wall off and the plywood off the front wall. It is not easy working at 14 foot and the only thing to hold onto is what you are trying to tear down. Man, when we built that thing we put it together well. The next one will be better. One buck, Diablo, was ID'd on TC and one buck in the distance which lost one side of it's rack. One boar hog and one sow visited regularly. I forgot to pick up rock salt to mix up my minerals for the licks but I will do that next time (If I remember). HeHe! March 21, 2011 March 21, 2011 I only had a half of a day off and got a late start because of doing some paper work for Vicki. I got to the camp at 3:30 pm and loaded upthe bike to go to the back. I dropped off the Japanese Plum Trees at Kolton’s Korner and went the the CF-Plot to pull the TC pics. I could see where deer had licked at the mineral lick and tested the feeder. It is working fine. I could see fragments of corn under the feeder. I looked around for a little bit down there thinking over set ups for the coming year. I then went to the hog trap on the W-Plot and pulled the TC pics there, tested the feeder and I could see where some of the soybeans in the trap were eaten but not much. Next I went to the East Ridge where I planted 5 Japanese Plum trees. Then I knocked out the 2 x 4’s on the Box stand walls and tied a rope through the window and pulled the stand down with my 4 wheeler. It dropped like I had it planned. I got everything I wanted to accomplish on this trip done. These trees at Kolton's Korner were planted in 2001. At 11 years old you can see how much faster the sawtooth oak grows than the White oak on the right. The E-Plot box stand was well built. But hurricanes and weather have taken their toll. It is in the correct olocation so I currently rebuilding it for use by my grandsons. I plan on going 1st class this time. Working at 14 feet and

March 28, 2011 I went the Tri-Parish Coop to pick up some Joint Vetch seed and inoculant. I had called first to make sure they had some. Well after paying the bill and going out to the loading dock I found out they had the seed but no inoculant. I told them I would get both at the same time because the seed isn’t worth anything without the inoculant. I also picked up 5 sacks of corn, 2 sacks of pellet lime, 2 sacks of 13-13-13, and a quart of chain saw bar oil.
I invited him and Doug to come see the new plot. I made the first trip with some corn and the lime and fertilizer. I dropped that off on the plot and pulled the TC pics and went back to the camp. Rambow & Doug arrived shortly and we talked for a while then went for a tour of the place. We wound up at the new plot and Rambow said it looks like a great spot. He confirmed the tree that I am going to put the stand on, we talked a little while longer and then he and Doug left.
I spread 100 lbs. pellet lime and 100 lbs 13-13-13 on the new plot. I did not plant the grass seed on the road because I want that to be the last thing I do before leaving the plot rest for the fall. I cut down some of the small trees I didn’t think were worth keeping and cleared the entrance to an existing deer trail that was piled up with trees from the plot. I added 2 sacks of corn to the feeder and left the plot. I will try to arrange a time when my neighbor and I can plant the Joint Vetch so I can retain as much moisture in the soil as possible.
I trimmed some of the small trees in front of the W-Plot Box Stand and a few of the over hanging trees on the X-Over road. I went to the E-Plot and added 1 sack of corn to the feeder there. I then cut some of the trees that will be in the way when building the new Box Stand on the E-Plot. I looked around at some of the trees in between the E-Plot Box Stand and Kolton’s Korner. I will wait to cut them until the Box Stand is up. I don’t want to cut to much.
Next trip I need to use the pole trimmer to clear some of the vines on the CF-Plot. I need to change batteries in the E-Plot Feeder. And start bringing material for the Box Stand to the site. Also I need to bring the old Box Stand to the X-Over to throw in the Hole.
