Got to stand to shoot over the camera. Slow motion makes shot look fantastic. I just have to figure out how to use the new Mac.

9/30/11 I got to the camp about midday and pulled the TC pics. Not as many morning bucks as in the past but "Poppy" at 7:45 am and a new 9 point at 10:45am. My brother, Ed came about 8:00 pm and we talked for awhile then went to retired early for the morning hunt.

FLASH! NEWS BREAK! "Moses gets parted by the red sea" 10/1/11 After not sleeping much during the night I got up and went to the Penthouse Stand. 5:41 am I baited with rice bran and corn next to the feeder. I then went into the box stand and arranged things. I set the camera up for the video as close as I could in the dark. I sat down to wait for dawn. I was there about 5 minutes when I remembered my bow was still on the ground. (That's mistake # 1). I pulled up my bow, hung it on the door knob and settled in once again. 6:04 am the TC flashed. I didn't see anything at first but then noticed a shadow of a deer near the feeder. I never saw it leave. A little later I was leaning forward to look to my right when I saw a deer between me and the feeder. Immediately I saw it was a decent buck. It moved directly toward the feeder and started eating corn and rice bran. The first TC pic was at 6:34am. Then I saw a doe coming down the road. She stopped and looked my direction for a while then joined the buck that was feeding. In another minute there was another buck that had walked down the road and joined them. I was picking up and folding my chair and leaning it against the wall. I then my bow and an arrow and loaded it up. A coupe of more TC pics were taken in the mean time. As it was getting more light I grabbed my binoculars and tried to see which buck was better. They both looked the same. I tried to turn on the camera but the batteries were completely dead. (Mistake # 2). By this time the light was a lot better. I knew they were both 8's or 9's and were almost identical. I decided to take the one that presented the best shot. One of them turned broadside and I moved to my left out of the window to draw my bow. When drawn, I moved back into the window and put the pin on him and "WHACK!" It sure sounded good. The deer rand straight away from me and mixed up on Kolton's Korner which is on the other side of the feeder. I saw them enter the cutover through the small trees that were blocking most of my view. I calmed down a little and then went to see my arrow. I have never seen an arrow withthis much blood on it. Everything was solid red. I then walked to Kolton's Korner and found real good blood in the middle. Then I walked the edge of the cutover looking for where they went in. No blood at all. I didn't want to press him even though I heard him crash. I turned around to go back to the 4 wheeler to return to the camp and wait and there he was at the end of the plot. He didn't go 25 yards. Recovery before 7:00 am on opening morning. I took a couple of pictures with my cell phone and got my camera and went back to the camp. I filled out my tag then went to get my deer. I tried to do a photo shoot of the kill but the pictures were not to my liking so I waiting on my brother before cleaning the deer so he could help me get some good pictures. When I went to retrieve the deer and my stuff out the stand 2 does and 2 fawns came out of the BT Road. Penthouse Stand: Don Saw 2 fawns, 4 does, 1 - 8 pt, 1 - 9 pt Killed 2.5 year old 8 point, 152 lbs, compound bow. Buzz Cut Broadhead. CF-Plot: Ed Saw 2 spikes

10/2/11 Afternoon hunts: Shaking Tree: Don 1 Doe, 1 - 3 pt, 1 - 7 pt, 1 - 9 pt When going to the stand I saw "Poppy" and "Heavy Duty" on the plot. I tried just walking by but they did't want to leave. So being the type of hunter that pets his deer in the off season I waved hello to them. The rude bucks just ran off. Imagine that. I climbed in the tree and settled in. About 10 minutes later I could hear a deer moving to my left in the cutover. A 3 point came out and fed under the stand for a while. While I am taking pictures of him I see Heavy Duty returning. Saw I switch the camera to him. He only has 7 points and a very small rack but I think he is a tremendous yearling. His body is not much bigger than the 3 point's. I photographed these two for a while. Heavy Duty is a very nervous deer. He ran off twice once blowing on his way out. I don't think he busted me though. However a deer in the cutover to my left busted me by smell. It blew about 5 times but I wouldn't give it the satisfaction of moving. You know the feeling that you get when a deer blows that your hunt is over......Don't believe it. After that Heavy Duty and the 3 point returned. only to leave again. Late and doe came from the west plot and worked her way toward me. When she got near the trail camera whe noticed something in the cutover. It sounded like an armadillo until it snapped a trig. "Poppy" came out and she ran about 20 yards to get out of his way. HE came right in to feed and I picked up my bow. He has a beautiful rack but his body is so small. I hem hawed around thinking if I should take him or not until my knees started shaking and I had to sit down. He gave me only head on shots after that until after shooting light. Then he didn't want to leave. I waited but didn't want to throw my water bottle at him. When I saw the TC flash I decided to take a couple of pics of him with the fading light. Of course he still didn't want to leave. when my brother whistled from the end of the plot a few times he finally left. 4-Trees Ed 1 deer, 2 fawns, 9 does, 1 - 9 pt, 1 - 13 pt Oh! Oh! Eddie! You Blew it! Ed had deer under him from the time he climbed into the stand until very late. Both "No Glow" and "Luck of the Draw" came from the opening to the SW. While the 9 pt "LotD" gave him plenty of opportunities, "No Glow" was not as willing to give Ed a side view very often. When the opportunity came Ed was so shook up he couldn't pull his bow back. He sat back to try to calm down which is not his best trait when deer are around. No Glow gave him one more chance. Ed drew back okay this time but when he shot the deer ducked or he just over shot him. It went right over his back. All the deer ran off, there were 9 deer on the plot at that time. Well as the luck of the Irish is and a Golden Horseshoe sticking where the sun don't shine here come the 9 point back. He gave Ed a 22 yard shot quartering away. How nice can you get? Well Ed shot him pretty far back. There was very little blood on the arrow and a lot of clear stuff. Gut shot but with hopes that the arrow went forward. That's when Ed came to come get me. We waited about 1 1/2 hours before looking for him but found no blood at all. We let him sit over night and tried again this morning. Neither of us felt like getting up early to make another hunt so we waited until 9 am before looking. We didn't find a trace.

10/10/11Austin had off of school today so he came to make an afternoon hunt with me. He can't shoot because rifle season is not open. However we went to the stand to make sure he can line up the shots through the window. He is just a little bit short to shoot the close shots so I will have to find something for him to stand on. Seth, Hoytaddict, met me at M&J Grocery and we went to the camp to talk for a while. I gave him a tour of the land when we went to pull TC pics. T-Mike showed up early enough to make the evening hunt. So we discussed what the chances were at each stand and he wanted to try for "Heavy Duty", a small 7 point that has been making daily visits to the Shaking tree. Penthouse Stand Don & Austin, pm huntWe set up the decoy to see the reactions of the deer. Does will definitely avoid the decoy. We saw a doe with twin fawns by the Killing Tree and she watched the decoy intently then left the plot in a hurry. Later a single big doe came out the middle bottom and she watched the decoy until she busted out of there on a full run. 2 Does and 2 fawns Shaking Tree T-Mike pm huntMike saw 1 button Buck We met my daughter and wife at Sonny's Pizza in St. Francisville so they could pick up Austin. Austin had a great time. 10/11/11CF-Plot Don, am huntAt 7:30 am 3 does and 2 fawns came out the NW end of the plot. they were nervous but fed for a while. At 9:30 am I stood up to rest my butt and saw a fawn under me. 10/15/11Don – CF – Plot 1 doe, 2 fawns, 1 spike Killed 106 lb. 6.5 yo doe About 7:20 am 1 doe and 2 fawns came in from the NW end of the plot. They went right to feeding and a good shot presented itself right away. I was trying to figure out if I should shoot that doe or not for a long time. Then I remembered that I need to stick to my management plan. Her fawns were plenty old enough. At 7:40 am I took the shot. She ran south and up the ridge on the west side of the road. I gave her some time. I text Cro and Rambow about the kill. I told Rambow I’m waiting on a buck. He teased me back and then a button buck came in to feed. I took a picture and text him back, “Here’s my buck”. I’m sure I got a good laugh. When I got down to track her I found good blood at first then lost it after forty yards. I went up and down the ridge looking for her or some blood to tell me where she went. I then went around the creek to get on the other side of the runoff . I started walking down the runoff and found her about 40 yards into it. She ran about 80 to 100 yards or better. I hit her a little high but it was still a double lung. By this time Jeff and his son were ready to get off the stand. We went back to the camp to get some rope and drink a soda. Jeff helped drag her out and back up the hill to the CF-Plot with the last little bit helped by the 4-wheeler. 10/15/11 Jeff and Austin Leblanc – AM – Penthouse 2 does, 1 fawn 2 misses at the same doe. This hunt was for Austin. He had been practicing and nailing the targets for quite a while now. But deer are a little different that targets. They saw 2 does and a fawn. Austin got to shoot a they same doe twice. He got that fever we all know. It makes that shot pretty difficult. 10/15/11 Ed – AM – 4-Trees 2 spikes 10/15/11 Don didn’t hunt, stayed at the camp. 10/15/11 Jeff and Austin Leblanc – PM – Penthouse 1 BB, 1 doe, 1 fawn 10/15/11 Ed – PM – 4-Trees 2 spikes, 2 does, 3 fawns Killed 81 lb. yearling Doe. There were deer in front of Ed for quite a while as they moved off the last to stay was a yearling doe. Ed took the shot. After we waited at the camp for a while Ed, Jeff, and I went to get her. She traveled about 80 yards into the cutover.
