10/19/11 Don – AM - Crows Foot 2 fawns
It was a beautiful morning but now many deer.
10/19/11 Wayne – AM – Killing Tree 1 BB, 3 does, 1 fawn Grazed a doe but did no harm.
Wayne had a good bit of activity in the morning. He got a shot at one of the does but shot a little high grazing the doe at the top of her back. Later in the week he saw her again no worse for the wear.
10/19/11 Don – PM – 4-Trees 1 – 7 pt, 1 BB, 2 fawns, 2 does, 2 deer
A lot of activity throughout the evening. The buck came in late and I could not judge him nor see my pins. Did not take a shot.
10/19/11 Wayne – PM – Killing Tree 1 BB, 7 does, 4 fawns, 1 – 4pt, 1 – 7 pt
The bucks did not get close enough for the shot. The 7 point that Wayne saw is most likely the same 7 point that came under me later in the evening.

10/20/11 Don – AM – Crowsfoot Nothing OWO – Rrtrail – 1 BB
It was a beautiful morning 33 deg. And no wind. The deer just didn’t cooperate. I didn’t see anything from the stand. On the walk back I saw a deer on the Ridge Runner Trail. I moved to the side, put my release back on got an arrow and was about to draw when the deer came around the bend. I head bobbed him and he watched me for a while. Then I notice it was a button buck.
10/20/11 Wayne – AM – Killing Tree Nothing
Wayne had the same luck as me. No deer were sighted from the stand.
10/20/11 Don – PM – 4-Trees 5 does, 2 fawns, 1 spike, 1 – 3 pt, 1 – 8 pt Shot 8 point, 155 lbs. , 93 7/8” is
Deer show up late at this stand usually. It wasn’t any different this time. Three does and two fawns came out about 5:30 pm. They got spooked and ran off to Dr. M’s. Later a short spike came trotting in from the north. Still later I noticed two deer coming out near the Lone Oak Stand it was Satelite (3 pt) and a doe. Then another doe came from the south. All the deer were spooky. I looked to the north on the plot and saw a big deer on the east side near the yankee weed row. Several of the deer were grazing there.
It was getting late but he started my way. I had one really spooky doe at the rice bran. When the Buck was at about 28 yards she busted out of there like she was crazy. Then the buck watched for a while and started eating the few grains of corn that I spread in that area. He was facing me with his head down. I looked through my little binos and couldn’t tell much because I really just can’t see good at all through those things. I knew he was a shooter though. I checked my pin and there was just a hint of green left on it. The buck turned broadside and I drew. I put the pin on him, then lifted it on top his back and then stettled it back in the kill zone. The shot sounded as good as any I had ever taken. That sound when you hit a big deer. It just sounds different. He ran straight west, away from me. When he got to the edge he fell while trying to turn to the right. A big “Thug!” but he was up in a half of second and ran north for 20 yards then cut into the cutover and in a second silence. About 20 seconds later I hear a crash at the south end of the cutover. That had to be a different deer though because he didn’t run that direction. I climbed down from the tree, text Wayne with BBD, then looked for my arrow. I had a complete pass through and stuck in the ground. Great blood on the arrow. Man I love those Magnus Buzz Cuts. I walked to where he fell but on my dirt plots (food plots with little growth) it is hard to find blood. I walked up about twenty yards and found where he entered the cutover. Real good blood there too. I text several friends and family and Wayne came over to meet me. We looked the situation over and decided to wait an hour. We went back to the camp.
At 8:00 pm we went back. What a great blood trail. Only lost it for a minute one time. After about 60 yards I saw an eye in the cutover. I thought it was a rabbit. Then I told Wayne, there he is, he’s still alive. Wayne shined his light over towards him and by that time he got up. I culdn’t see him any more but Wayne said he walked real slow away from us and looked like he was in a lot of pain. He was hurt real bad. We backed out as quiet as we could and left him for the night.
By Wayne’s description I believe he is the buck we call “Lucky”. He is #2 on the hit list this year. He is a nice 8 –point with high G2’s. It was a long night.
10/20/11 Wayne – PM – Killing Tree 2 does OWI 7 does, 1 spike, 2 BB
Wayne had another great afternoon at the Killing Tree. Although he didn’t shoot he saw plenty of deer. There were 2 does on the plot on the way in. Then while hunting he saw a lot more. Wayne offered to stay to help me find my buck in the morning but I told him it wasn’t necessary. Rambow offered to come help me.

10/21/11Rambow made a short morning hunt on his place then called me. I started to cook breakfast when he called and when he got here almost everything was cooked. We ate then went to look for the buck. The night before I had laid out a toilet paper trail to where we left off. Then we followed blood for about 20 more yards. The blood just about stopped there. After that we found four more drops over the next 20 yards, then nothing. We looked in several likely directions then split up. I followed the bottom while walking almost midway up the hill. This way I could see both directions. After about 200 more yards there he was. As most deer do in the hills when hurt, he followed the bottom. I looked on my Iphone to see where we were and we were about 60 yards from the far end of my neighbors food plot. We brought him up that direction and went to get a 4 wheeler to bring him out. I tried to send pictures and post on the web sight but something must be wrong with the tower out here. I cannot do either. We took some photos for memories and the contests and cleaned him. I had asked Rambow to make a hunt with me the night before so he brought his bow. youtu.be/5jjp0a2WHek10/21/11Rambow – PM – Killing Tree 3 does, 1 BB, 2 Fawns Killed a 105 lb doe. We got set up early because Rambow wanted a doe. I place the bait out and he took readings with his range finder. Then I left for my stand. I had just gotten in my stand when Rambow text me that a button buck was feeding in front of him. He left shortly and was replaced by a very nervous doe and fawn. They didn’t stay long but out came a large doe with her yearling doe from last year, and this year’s fawn. I got a text, “Doe down in the corn.” Rambow had spined her and had to take a second shot to finsh her off. I text him back, “Shoot a buck now” but Rambow didn’t want to take one. He brought her back to the camp and waited on me. youtu.be/Fl6Zk1CKpno10/21/11 Don – PM – 4-Trees 2 Does, 2 Fawns About 5:30 2 Does and 2 fawns came out. They fed for a while, then left. 10/22/11Ed – AM – Killing Tree 1 BB !0/22/11I slept in because I really didn’t feel like making another kill so soon. I am on my last buck tag and will be waiting until November 25th before shooting another doe. I brought the hog trap to the W-Plot and put it behind the box stand. I didn’t bait it because I am souring some corn to keep the deer out of the trap. After pulling the Trailcam pictures I discovered that Lucky was still alive. I thought that the buck I had killed looked small but he looked almost exactly like Lucky. Lucky is bigger. The new name for the buck I killed is “Unlucky”. Most logical name I could think of. 10/22/11Don – PM – 4-Trees 3 Does, 2 Fawns Three does and 2 fawns came out early, about 5:30 pm they fed for a while and left. They are getting more nervous all the time. Still killable though. 10/22/11Ed – PM – Killing Tree 1 Doe, 1 Fawn I had moved the Trailcam to the middle of the plot by placing a log standing up near where we want to shoot. The deer were wary of this but I think it is in a better place now.

10/29/11 Don & Austin - am - Penthouse 1 BB, 1 Deer, 2 Does
Austin's first youth hunt and first time for only he to be shooting has finally got here. We were in the stand early and there was a deer at the trail camera before light. Austin could see it's shadow but I did not. Camera showed it was a button buck. After daylight there was a deer on the north end of the plot that stayed at about 100 yds for a few minutes. Later two does came out the BT-Plot and stayed by the Killing Tree for a while. Austin practiced aiming at these.
10/29/11 Don and Austin - pm - W-Plot Box Stand 1 - 3 pt, 7 fawns, 7 does, 1 deer 2 fawns owi
After the morning hunt we pulled the TC pics and saw that there was a herd of does at the Ridge Runner Trail. We saw 2 Fawns on the plot while pulling pics. I felt there would be a good chance there. Seth (Hoytadict) came to visit us for a little while in early afternoon. Austin wanted to get on the stand early so we got to the stand about 3:15 and by 3:30 there was 2 fawns on the T-Plot. Later a 3 point appeared there. After that two fawns came out the RR Trail, then 3 does came out the NW side of the T-Plot. they left after a while.
Next we saw a doe and twin fawns near 4-Trees. something near them frightened them off. Later a single fawn came from that direction and fed under the Lone Oak Stand. The two original fawns kept entering and leaving but were finally feeding at the mouth of the RR Trail. Three large does came from the back of the T-Plot and woorked their way to the RR Trail. Another large deer stayed in the back.
Austin tried to line up a shot on "Granny" who is a 7 or 8 year old doe. the other does around her kept getting in front of behind her making it difficult to only hit one deer. I then told Austin to take the doe on the right. He shot, thought the shot was good. so we looked for blood. None was to be found. We went to Sonny's to eat and then back to the camp to look at the video and found out that it was a clean miss.

10/30/11 Don and Austin - am - Penthouse 1 BB
Before daylight a button buck came to the feeder and had its picture taken several times. I could see it was not big and questioned the small buck possibility. It left before daylight but TC pics confirmed that it was a BB.
