October 15, 2011 @ 7:40 am From the Crow Foot Plot Stand 10/15/11Don – CF – Plot 1 doe, 2 fawns, 1 spike Killed 106 lb. 6.5 yo doe About 7:20 am 1 doe and 2 fawns came in from the NW end of the plot. They went right to feeding and a good shot presented itself right away. I was trying to figure out if I should shoot that doe or not for a long time. Then I remembered that I need to stick to my management plan. Her fawns were plenty old enough. At 7:40 am I took the shot. She ran south and up the ridge on the west side of the road. I gave her some time. I text Cro and Rambow about the kill. I told Rambow I’m waiting on a buck. He teased me back and then a button buck came in to feed. I took a picture and text him back, “Here’s my buck”. I’m sure I got a good laugh. When I got down to track her I found good blood at first then lost it after forty yards. I went up and down the ridge looking for her or some blood to tell me where she went. I then went around the creek to get on the other side of the runoff . I started walking down the runoff and found her about 40 yards into it. She ran about 80 to 100 yards or better. I hit her a little high but it was still a double lung. By this time Jeff and his son were ready to get off the stand. We went back to the camp to get some rope and drink a soda. Jeff helped drag her out and back up the hill to the CF-Plot with the last little bit helped by the 4-wheeler.
