Trouble was a buck that I wanted to take from the first time I saw a trail camera photo of him. I had a chance in early bow season when he walked out late at the Hotel California. I had a 12 yard bow shot but it was to late to get it on video so I let him walk. He was a very visible buck at the time. After that day he disappeared. It wasn’t until mid January that he showed back up on camera.
On January 17th I was hunting the Penthouse Stand on the East plot when several bucks came out to chase the does. I could not identify any of them because it was getting late. The next morning I pulled the cards out the cameras and discovered that Trouble was one of the bucks. I hunted the Killing Tree that afternoon to get closer to the action. I had several deer in front of me including a nice 6 point when Trouble appeared from the right behind me. He walked over to the 6 point and pushed him out the way and then went to feeding.
He was facing away from me but I had a good quartering away shot and took it. He ran straight into the cutover in front of me and I thought I heard him crash. When I searched I could not find much blood nor the deer. Kevin, J’Nelle, Lil Kevin and Kolton came out to help find it and Eddie came out also. We looked all the way to the creek for over an hour before deciding to wait until morning. The next morning Eddie and I went to look again and Eddie found him shortly after. He had turned left before crashing into some tree tops and had no white showing in the direction that we had checked the night before.
